- Notice of temporary suspension of product shipments to the United States
The U.S. government announced a presidential order on July 30, 2025, titled "Suspension of De Minimis Treatment for All Countries" regarding mail destined for the United States.
Under this presidential order, mail containing goods imported for consumption (taxable mail) will no longer be eligible for de minimis treatment starting August 29, 2025, and will be subject to customs duties. On August 15, 2025, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued "New Guidelines on the Elimination of De Minimis," which require carriers and others to pay customs duty deposits to CBP and prepare customs declarations. However, the procedures that carriers and corresponding postal operators in other countries must follow remain unclear, making implementation challenging.Due to this situation, Japan Post has indefinitely suspended shipments to the United States.
